⁉️ Ever heard of “Interoception” ⁉️ I ⁉️ Ever heard of “Interoception” ⁉️

It is the ability to identify, understand and respond to the state of the inside of our body.

👉🏼Hunger
👉🏼Muscle Tension
👉🏼Racing heart
👉🏼Fatigue
👉🏼Fullness
👉🏼Fear

Individuals with “neurodivergence” like ADHD, high sensitivity, high spectrum autism may struggle with this. It can ALSO be a challenge for those living in fast-paced environments, where “hearing” the body isn’t as easy. 

🤯 Chemicals in processed foods can interfere with some signaling too.

Because our bodies are innately designed to heal themselves, we can either leverage it, or ignore it. Ignoring it CAN lead to health issues.

👩🏻‍⚕️ I’m a believer in connecting to it, leveraging it, and applying it to the stuff you WANT and the things you ENJOY doing.

💁🏻‍♀️ Anterior pelvic tilt much? 💁🏻‍♀️

That’s ok. We’re meant to tilt our pelvis anteriorly, arch our back, or flare our ribs at any given time.

There really isn’t a right or wrong way to move your body. Don’t let anyone convince you into thinking otherwise. Just move!

👉🏼 BUT if you have particular goals/needs, then there certainly are better approaches than others. This v-style press is just one tool for various goals..

..like postpartum strength, biasing the abdominals vs back musculature, rib or diaphragm-related issues, etc.

In most cases, I recommend doing these: 

🔥 Alongside traditional presses
🔥 At a lower weight than you would normally press
🔥 At higher reps (8-15reps) for 3-4 sets
🔥 While still maintaining your ability to breathe

🚨 For pelvic peeps, I suggest breathing out during the press upward, starting from the pubic bone all the way to ribs. Breath in as your weight comes down.

P.s. i used the word “cheating” in the context of simply keeping yourself from cheating your intention. Nothing wrong with arching otherwise 😉 #WordsMatter

🚨 Stories influence our beliefs, which influence our actions (or lack of them), which influence our sense of self, which influences our wellness.

When we boil stories/narratives down to their parts, we realize that many are imposed on us. Not ours to begin with.

☀️ Our bodies are designed to withstand stressors. We NEED them to stay healthy.

Our “resilience” relates to our ability to RECOVER from stressors and come back stronger🏋🏻‍♀️.

🚨And there are many types of resilience. Thermal Resilience is just one.

If you aren’t tolerating heat or cold well❄, it’s really wise to start exposing yourself to zones of temperature discomfort for a few minutes each day. 

Then see if you feel energized or depleted after🔋🪫. This part is important because if you overdo it, it can worsen your thermal resilience versus improve it. So start small.

Lastly, I’m all for “looking good in a bathing suit” goals (duh) 💁🏻‍♀️, but what if we actually worked on the things that keep us well LONG term. Doesn’t have to be one or the other.

So let’s do both✌🏼😎
